On Saturday we were joined by Donna Staples and members of
the Mid Lincs. Ringing Group for a session at Marston, in the reed beds.
It was supposed to be a ringing demonstration from 09.00 to
16.00 but unfortunately only a couple of people attended in spite of advertisements.
We set the nets from 07.30 with an anticipated start time of
9.00 and soon had a steady stream of birds arriving at the processing point. We
ended the day with a total of 155 birds caught 130 new birds and 24 retraps and
1 control, (i.e. bird ringed elsewhere).
The day was a huge success however and everyone enjoyed the
experience of ringing as a large group.
